BING’S SUPPORT FOR HTTPs AND WHAT IT MEANS FOR YOUR KEYWORD DATA

Bing followed the footsteps of the largest search engine in the world, Google, and moved to the secured search process. We still have access to their tool suite but these tools may not be as robust as Google’s. Some of their tools are:

Search Query Terms Report – This report allows webmasters to see what search terms boosted their ads as well as performance metrics like clicks, impressions, and conversions.

Universal Event Tracking – This tool provides performance metrics associated with the query or keywords you bid on, and how they affect your conversion rates. Universal Event tracking uses bounce rates, click through rates, page per visit, and the duration of visits as their performance metrics. It will be particularly important to advertisers, to help with Bing’s Remarketing in Paid Search feature which is currently in development.

Bing Webmaster Tools – Webmaster tools will assist webmasters to understand the behavior of site visitors and the path they choose to come to their sites along with details on rankings. An added advantage to Bing’s Webmaster Tools is that it provides up to six months of data, unlike the short 90 days offered by Google.

Bing’s adoption of encrypted search will encourage SEOs and webmasters to look for keyword data in other areas. There are a few tricks to help you gather this important data if you don’t want to spend on a content marketing agency. However, the results may not be quite as informative as that lost, but they’re better than nothing in a data vacuum.

Site Search – One of the top advantages of setting up Site Search on your website is that it lets you see what your visitors are looking for and what terms they used to reach your site. It can go a long way in determining and preventing the loss of keyword data from search engines. Visitors often use the same, or at least similar search terms on site as they did on their search engine.

Related Searches – The list of related searches provided by Bing at the bottom of most of their SERPs help you to spot search trends in your niche market, and can be used to help shape ad campaigns as well as clickable content.

PPC Data Mining – Even though organic searches might no longer be of any help to you in delivering keyword data, pay per click advertising still does. However, it isn’t free and you will have to pay the cost of investment against the data return. But, it still qualifies as an option in the keyword data desert.

CONCLUSION:

With the changing trends, the key is to start combining search operators and stitching together complex queries out of several different operators available or hiring a web design agency to produce desired results.
