Professionals often strive to understand various ways to up their productivity and be a valuable resource to the company. This article will shed light on certain things one must initiate to perform par excellence.
Follow a good routine: We in a way are imprisoned by our routine. Cultivating bad habits will lead towards bad routines which will highly impact productivity. It is vital to analyze the habits which are stopping you from being productive and improving on them. Once you practice on improvising it frequently, over a period of time it becomes a part of your routine. For instance, if you have a habit of sleeping till late and you wish to change it, all you need to do is wake up early for the next 2-3 weeks and eventually you won’t even need an alarm to wake up early, it will become a part of you!
Make your surroundings distraction-free: Distractions are everywhere. Whether it is your colleagues talking beside you, the aroma of good food, or the internet! These causes hampered efficiency and work productivity. While you need to focus on completing your tasks on a stipulated time, it is important to give yourself a deadline and then strive to finish the said job before it. In order to increase your attention span, you must undertake simple habits like counting 1-10 in a reverse direction, taking a deep breath or reducing eye-contact with the people around you.
Do not try to complete everything in one go: Many times people tend to compile a list of tasks and try to finish everything at the same moment. This is one of the biggest mistakes that need to be avoided on an immediate basis. Practicing this leads to none of the tasks being complete and pending deliverables. It must be made a point that a timeline against each task must be set and work must be done by prioritizing them. It will help you focus on one job at a time and give you a gateway to concentrate on each job.
Get into the flow: When you are in the flow of completing a task, your mind tends to be highly focused, and work efficiency multiplies. It purely depends upon an individual’s choice to induce their state of mind in concentrating on a subject. Factors like interest, passion, and desire play a key role in making this happen. There are a few triggers that can lead to getting in the flow of work.
- Challenging tasks
- Listen to the right kind of music. E.g.: Soothing beats with no lyrics
- Caffeine helps in increasing focus and concentration, but do not overdo it
- Stay hydrated. Dehydration can cause nausea and confusion along with several other health issues. Drink around 4 liters of water daily in order to make your body perform at its peak
